well, here goes:

What is Love?

Odd…usually the answer I have to most questions is love. I guess its fair to question the answer.

What is Love?

It can change the world – good or bad. Love is beautiful, love is immortal, love is honest, love is strong.

Love is also blind, uncontrollable, vexing, difficult and easily lost.

Too fleeting to be defined – to powerful to be ignored. The world could certainly exist without it, but I doubt it’d be worth existence. For me at least – this is so. Even at its worst, love can teach the world something.

Love is so many things…

Love is passion, devotion, veneration, inspiration. Without love, the opposites could not exist either. There is always love and hate. One cannot exist without the other. In Elie Wiesel’s novel Night he speaks of his experience in a concentration camp. The Gestapo’s indifference was worse than any beating – if someone hates you, then someone must love you.

Love is determination as well. Love inspires resilience.

So…what is love?

Whatever it is, it’s why I bother doing anything. It’s why almost anyone bothers doing anything. Whether it’s the thrill of a cheering crowd, fervor for competition, whispered nothings with another or hope among others – everyone loves.

The real trick is abandoning oneself enough – but not so much to be consumed by it.
